State Bank of India had taken written exam on 28th April 2013, to fill 1500 posts
of probationary officers in its various branches across India. Where general
category candidates can appear max. four times, General (PWD) 7, OBC 7,
OBC (PWD) 7, while there is no restriction for SC/ST candidates.
SBI PO selection procedure is divided in three steps - phase 1, phase 2, final selection.
In phase one there are two tests - (i) Objective Tests (200 marks, (ii) Descriptive Test
(50 marks Phase-II: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
Final Selection: The candidates have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately.
The selection is made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.
The Probationary Officers are on probation of two years during which they are given intensive
training and towards end of their probation / training period, they are subjected
to a screening process.While those Officers who achieve the predetermined standards
may be confirmed and given placement in the next higher grade i.e. Officer Middle
Management Grade Scale II, others who qualify the test but fail to achieve the
standards set for placement in Middle Management Grade Scale II, will be confirmed
as Officer Junior Management Scale Grade I. The services of those Officers who fail to
qualify in this process are determined .
